Let your first stop at the Y be our wonderful Jewish
Heritage Library. Since 1978, the Rabbi Simon Hevesi Jewish
Heritage Library of the Central Queens YM&YWHA been
a community resource for books, recordings and films on
all aspects of Jewish culture. It is a circulating library,
and its 15,000 volumes and hundreds of videotapes, audiotapes
and compact disks, are open to the general public for
borrowing, free of charge.
The Hevesi Library invites its patrons to rediscover,
explore, and enrich their ethnic heritage in new and surprising
ways by bringing together, at the community level, diverse
aspects of Jewish culture: Jewish languages and literature,
folk and children's literature, art, film, music, religion
and history.
For Adults…
 | Our superb collection and reference library covers the
breadth of Jewish learning and living, in English, Hebrew
and Yiddish; |
 | Film\Discussion Workshops bring unusual and thought-provoking
entertainment to the community; |
 | Our free monthly film program, features outstanding Jewish
films; |
 | Our Book Discussion Group meets monthly to discuss Jewish
literature; |
 | Lectures and workshops featuring outstanding authors,
filmmakers, and others speaking on aspects of Jewish culture
are presented several times during the year. |
For Children…
 | From Picture Books to Seforim, our collection in English
and Hebrew, will inform and entertain children of all ages
and interests; |
 | Story hours for preschoolers and school-age children offering
a wealth of folktales and stories from Jewish and other
cultures, as well as arts and crafts projects; |
 | Noah's Ark Video Club for Kids; |
 | Summer programs for school-age children include poster
contests and other reading incentive programs. |
 | School Programs bring Jewish Heritage into the schools,
through presentations and activities. |
 | Our trained librarians can be your guide to the latest
novels, the hottest books on Jewish affairs, and the deepest
works of Talmud, poetry. art and philosophy…Or sit
beside your child and explore Jewish stories, biographies
